The Minister of PPPA Appreciates the Empowerment Program for Women Survivors of Violence in Bali
Bali (23/12) - The Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), Bintang Puspayoga officially closed the assistance program for women's economic empowerment and community empowerment in Bangli Regency, Bali. This program is for women survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence (KDRT).
“My appreciation goes to BenihBaik.com and Indozone who are collaborating with PLN Peduli for organizing women's economic empowerment activities, especially in the Bali region, especially in 4 districts namely, Denpasar, Badung, Tabanan, and Bangli. This women's empowerment activity is important because when we talk about violence, this is a very concerning issue. Violence is an iceberg phenomenon many cases go unreported,” said the Minister of PPPA, Friday (23/12).
In the future, the Minister of PPPA expects intense communication to build synergy and collaboration regarding women's empowerment, especially in the field of entrepreneurship.
“If we talk about women's empowerment, out of 65.5 million Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia, 64 million are micro-businesses and 60 percent are owned and managed by women. MSME assistance is assisted by 16 Ministries/Institutions, including State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN). However, it is this assistance to survivors of violence that we need to work together in the future,” said the Minister of PPPA.
Furthermore, the Minister of PPPA emphasized the importance of the upstream and downstream concept in providing economic empowerment assistance to survivors of violence. “Not only empowered, of course in the future it must be guarded about the market and so on,” said the Minister of PPPA.
This assistance program for women's economic empowerment and community empowerment consists of training in accessories and culinary creative economic product skills; incense product manufacturing skills training and venture capital assistance; and paralegal training to expand access to assistance for victims of violence.
PLN Finance Director, Shinthya Roesly hopes that the BenihBaik.com and Indozone collaboration program supported by PLN can provide benefits and become a role model for other regions.
“The outcome of this program is that women survivors of sexual violence and domestic violence have the confidence that they can rise and take control of their economy,” said Shinthya.
On the same occasion, BenihBaik.com CEO and Founder, Andy F. Noya said, women have an important role not only for themselves, but also for their families, environment, and even the country.
“When women are empowered, then I believe Indonesia will prosper. Through this training and empowerment program, of course, we all believe that many women in Bali will be able to empower themselves and be able to be financially and emotionally independent,” concluded Andy.
